This way of lawyering is not new to the South. Georgia’s history is rich with trial lawyers who lived and breathed their client’s cases in a way that allows them to change the course of their client’s life—by walking prosecutors back out of their tunnel vision and see the full story in a way their own investigations fail to imagine; by allowing judges to see a human being they want to help, not a case number the want to process; and by helping juries understand why the defendant is not guilty. But lawyers with that level of commitment have been, and continue to be, and exception to the rule.
The South has a complicated history with the way it has treated defendants facing criminal charges. With systems designed to protect the ruling class, defending against the full force of the State can feel like an impossible task. Fortunately, that history is still being written—and New South Law is designed to be part of the new narrative.
You have a story to tell. We want to tell it. New South Law exists on a foundation of client-centered representation that puts the client’s interests and the client’s at the forefront of the case. This is not a conveyor belt law firm. This is not a law firm built for a quick payday at the expense of people who find their lives flashing in front of their eyes and with no idea how to defend themselves in a case. Instead, this is a law firm committed to learning about the people it represents, and telling their story in a way people can understand.
